About the Dish Brown Braising Pork
Originating from a traditional Hunan dish, Mao's Braised Pork features a vibrant red color, with tender, melt-in-your-mouth pork that is rich but not greasy. In 2018, it was recognized as one of the "Top Ten Classic Dishes of Hunan Cuisine" by China Cuisine. The dish dates back to the Northern Song Dynasty and was deeply favored by Chairman Mao. Some people said is that Mao himself improved the traditional recipe, reducing the amount of sugar and oil to align with healthier eating principles, which led to the creation of the current version of Mao’s Brown-Braised Pork.
